As with most first-person hand-to-hand combat games, the general technique with melee weapons is to rush in, attack, and then rush back out of range.

Aiming is annoyingly exact, so if you can’t strike low enough to hit the ground spider, adjust your viewing angle until your blows connect.

Monsters often lie in wait right behind closed doors, so be cautious when opening them, especially with low health.

When crossing over pits and drops, always try to look down and move slowly. It’s incredibly easy to fall to your death.
